Definition
For children with diarrhea in the past 2 weeks, DIATRPK11 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment from a community midwife. This response category is country-specific to Pakistan.
Some samples in the "DIATR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
In the 2017 Pakistan sample, DIATRPK11 is combined with DIATRPK3 (homeopath), DIATRPK4 (hakim), and DIATRPPK5 (dai/traditional birth attendant) in DIATRPRIVHL (all traditional practitioners/healers). IPUMS-DHS users interested in using DIATRPK11 are encouraged to review DIATRPRIVHL for a more comprehensive response category.
